FAQ

A few

common questions.

If you can't find what you're looking for, send a short note via the contact page and I'll come back to you directly.

What ages do you work with?

Approximately four years and older, including children, adolescents, and young adults. I have a particular clinical interest in school-aged and adolescent clients.

Do I need a diagnosis or referral before contacting you?

No. You're welcome to get in touch with a few sentences about what you're noticing. If a referral or report from a paediatrician, GP, or school would be helpful, I'll let you know.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions are based at 42 Malvern Grove, Caulfield North VIC 3161. School visits, home visits, and telehealth may be available depending on clinical fit. Please ask when you get in touch.

Do you accept NDIS clients?

Yes. I work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS clients. Get in touch with a few details about your plan and goals, and I'll let you know whether speech pathology with my practice is a fit.

What about Medicare or private health rebates?

Medicare rebates may be available under a Chronic Disease Management plan organised through your GP. Many private health extras policies cover speech pathology. Check directly with your insurer about your level of cover.

How much does it cost?

Speech and language sessions are charged at $193.99 per hour, aligned with the NDIS price guide. ADOS-2 assessments are a fixed $900 (all inclusive: assessment session, scoring, and written report). Clinical time spent on your case (report writing, school liaison) is charged at the same hourly rate. If your assessment scope is more complex, get in touch and I'll come back with a clear estimate.

How long is a typical session?

Standard intervention sessions run for 45–60 minutes. Assessments are typically conducted across one or more longer appointments depending on the scope. ADOS-2 assessments take approximately 60–90 minutes plus follow-up reporting time.

What does an assessment involve?

A combination of standardised testing, dynamic assessment, conversation with you (and often the school), and observation. The aim is a useful picture of how your child communicates across real-world contexts, not just test scores.

Will you write a report I can share with school?

Yes. Reports are written to be useful to teachers and learning support staff: concrete, contextual, and oriented toward practical strategies rather than jargon.

Do you do ADOS assessments on your own?

ADOS-2 is one piece of a multidisciplinary autism assessment. I conduct ADOS-2 assessments in conjunction with a paediatrician. Get in touch and I can explain how the process typically works.
